Doing the Tourist thing

Well some of the family went on a hike, the rest of us decided to go on a drive and do the tourist thing.
One of my cousins is a ballet dancer and myself and another cousin were trying to mimic what she could do the whole day.
The hotel is the Mount Washington Hotel. It is huge and beautiful.

Ouch!

I'm visiting family right now. Its been fun. I haven't seen some of them for years. Today we did some shopping and then spent the rest of the afternoon in their pool. It was really nice. . .until I fell on my brothers head.

He was throwing me of his shoulders and I was diving backwards. We did it perfectly for the first few times and then my feet slipped or something. My back landed on his head. Its all good now, but I was so scared a first that I had really hurt him. Here's a picture of myself diving. Ignore the bum tan line.

Officially Angry

I lost all my pictures from V&A's wedding. So if anyone cares to help me out and send me theirs that would be lovely. I'm just a bit annoyed.

Here's a pic of my flowers.

Tired with a capital T

Its been a great summer, but I will be glad to go to school and get into some kind of scheduled life. Lately I feel like I'm running around with my head cut off trying to get things done. Thats me though. Even though I complain about it, I think I like to be busy. The day feels more complete that way.
Alright. I'm rambling. But who wouldn't at10:30 at night.
Maybe this tired thing has nothing to do with being busy. Maybe I should go to bed.
Bed. . .now thats a novel idea.

Carnies, Tan Lines and Other Stories

Well, I was working one day this week (hard to believe I know, but its true) and a group of guys comes up to the gate. Once they learned they had to be wearing trunks to get into the pool (thats right folks, no boxers alowed), they left to retreive their water apparel and unfortunatly came back. Not only did they come back with themsleves, but they brought a few other friends along with them. Wonderful. They were quite the group to see for sure. Pants barely on, slime stashes, cigarettes, etc.
Now there was one paticular fellow who decided that he'd like a girlfriend during his stay here. So at first he starts with me. Myself, being completely grossed out, ignores said fellow and sends him over to my co-worker. She being a bit more receptive, got the pleasure of being asked if she "digged carnies" and if she'd give him her number. I couldn't look at them for fear I would start laughing outloud and look like a lunatic. it was very funny though.
By the way, has anyone seen the movie rent. I'm not a fan of the story, but the music. . .WOW! Excellent. Its excellent. Watched that last night with Gill and Mike. . . poor Mike. . . I think he was ready to shoot himself by the end of it.
Thats all I have to report really, except for the fact that I cannot get rid of my bathing suit strap lines. Its like I'm striped brown and white. If I tanned orange I would be tiger. "The wonderful thing about tigers, is tigers are wonderful things. . ."
Ta ta for now!

The post where "work" is the most frequently used word

Sorry I haven't been updating lately. I just don't seem to have the time. I worked this past whole weekend and I work all this week, plus private lessons, plus babysitting. . .plus anything and everything else.

Thats really all thats going on in my life too. Just a whole lot of work.

V&A's wedding is coming up fast though. Hard to believe because I hardly ever see anyone anymore. Its almost like I'm away for the summer like every other year.

Speaking of coming up fast. . .I have to go to work now or I'll be late.

Google Earh

Jeremy G. told me about google earth yesterday and I thought I would check it out. Its pretty neat. I was able to find my house and my friend's houses.

Here are some of the places I would love to visit in person.

Making millions!

Well life has been busy busy busy. I've been here there and everywhere working to make some money for my education fund. I think I'll be alright in the financial area this year, which will be suberb.
Other then that, there has been not too much going on. I've been reading Come Away My Beloved and really enjoying it (thank you grandparents). I might post some quotes from it sometime in the future.

I'll leave you with this profound revelation: Ask not what your fortune cookie can do for you, but what you can do for your fortune cookie.

Thank you and goodnight.

Musings of a bored student in her evening class. Part 2

An Epitaph

Here lies
a person
who was born
cried a lot and
became a kid
who played and learned
and soon
was grown up
and working
getting married
reproducing himself
and just living
life
then wrinkles appeared
in large amounts
the person was old
he retired
spoiled his grandchildren
and took his time
doing everything
of course, he died
here lies a person
who lived.

A rant. by me

You know what really bugs me sometimes? Bugs that get into the ceiling lights in classrooms. (Get it? Bugs me and real bugs.) I don't know why, but it just gets on my nerves. Whenever I'm bored in class I sometimes look up and there they'll be. Sometimes there is at least ten or more. Dead in the light and taunting me. How do they even get in there anyway? It seems impossible. There are usually no holes in surrounding ceiling and no cracks in the light casing. It makes no sense. And why do they even go into the light anyway? Bugs are so dumb. Stupid flys. Didn't their mothers ever tell them not to play near the lights? Obviously mother flys are unfit to raise their own children if they aren't teaching this. I should call social services on them. "Hello? I am calling to report a case of unfit mothering. . . . her name is Mrs. Flee. . . .she's part of the house fly family. . . yes thats right. . .she isn't teaching her children to stay a way from classroom lights."

So now that I've shared, its your turn.

What really bugs you? (yes, this is a ploy to get some comments)

Musings of a bored student in her evening class

Ignorance

I'm right and your wrong
that's just the way it is
I know, you don't
why?
because I was told so
by someone who should know

of course I did my research
I read a book or two
but found the authors
completely wrong
and didn't
see the point

anyway, the point is
that what I say is true
so
shall we end this
silly debate
I promise to forgive
your ignorance

Between Yesterday and Tomorrow

When this old day is over
I plan to sleep
although distractions
I
will find
But
once my lids can no longer be lifted
I will crawl into bed
and let Morpheus
grant me sweet slumber
in return for my dreams
for dreams disturb
my rest
and rest I need
to begin again
a new day

Baked potatoes. . .yummy!

Today was baked potatoe day at the school and for a mere $2.00 I got one with the works. It was very good.
So I'm taking piano lessons and. . .well. . .I'm very rusty. Its very embarrasing that I am so bad at playing the instrument. Oh well, I'll be taking a whole course on it at school and hopefully I'll get better.
Turned on the t.v. last week to see what was on and happened to catch the first episode of So You Think You Can Dance of the season. Its on tonight and I'm looking forward to watching it. Its the equivalent to American Idol except that its a dance competition and not a singing one. There are some really great dancers out there. It makes me miss taking dance classes and wish I had started dancing when I was younger.

Good afternoon!

Well it has been a great week so far.
This past weekend was spent at a retreat. That was fun and I really enjoyed the speaking. The theme was Seeing and Serving the Savior and therefore messages were a lot about getting to know God. The theme verse was Philippians 3:10.
On Monday I watched the season finale of 24 with some friends. I enjoyed it, but I guess it could have been better. I'm wondering what they will come up with for the next season.
Tuesday I had class and wrote my first test of the semester. I think I did alright. I answered every question and I think I most likely got around 85% or a 90%. I'll find out tonight anyway. After class I went out to Tims with some friends. We had a good conversation and I hope we can do it again sometime. It gave me something to look forward to while I was listening to the prof ramble on about poetry.
I didn't bother watching American Idol last night. I didn't really want Taylor to win. I think Chris should have made it to the finale. I also didn't watch Lost because I had forgotten to tape it. I know someone who taped it though so hopefully I can borrow it from her. I'm hearing that it was a good ending for the season.

Blueberry pancakes and lots of white toast!

Went for brunch this morning with Leanne. The food was delish (of course I usually think food is good, unless its beats or squash) and we had a good time talking.

Volunteered in the afternoon at my Dad's school. Last time I was with the special needs kids and today I was in resource. Who knew that I could remember what integers were and how to multiply them?

I'm also tutoring now. Thats a lot of fun actually. I enjoy preparing what I'm going to do with kids I tutor. The youngest is really cute. Always telling me that its time for me to go home (smart kid, but can't sit still for long periods of time).

Pics of highschool friends

Hard to believe that it has been almost a year since I graduated from highschool. Here are some pictures of our mini reunion. Unfortunatly there are many others who frequented the hallway that couldn't attend. We missed them all and discussed shoes we were wearing (or in my case the lack thereof) in somber memory of those who weren't with us.
Here are the pictures of the evening.

Update? Update? Now what is that?

Hello everyone. Terribly sorry that I have neglected this thing for the past week or so. I was waiting until I had some pictures to post, but someone hasn't e-mailed them to me yet. . ahem. . .and therefore I am going to have to do without for a bit.
So what is happening in my wonderful and exciting life? Well, I'm glad you asked. For the past week I have been sick and instead of updating this lovely blog, I have been eating purple jello and homemade popsicles while watching Regis and Kelly Live.
Also did snack and chat at youth group on Friday. I did the driving for my group and missed every street and driveway possible. Disregarding my navigation skills, the night was a lot of fun. I learned some new things too. Like, never throw your keys at Noel's hat if you want your key chain to stay intact and how to squeel tires (the latter being the most useful lesson of course).
Monday was a reunion for the hallway crew. We had a bon fire and debated on important issues such as. . .um. . .I don't remember. I'll post pictures of the evening later, when they are e-mailed to me. I can truthfully say that the biggest thing I miss about highschool (and I don't miss a whole lot) is lunch time in the hallway. Had a great group of friends to eat my bagels with.
24 was alright too. Wish the president wasn't so slow at going about killing himself.
Oh, started a literature course at school yesterday too. I have to read a part of Beowulf by tomorrow night. Should be an interesting class.
Thats all folks! Pictures will be coming.

"Miss Baker, I can swim backwards!"

I went to Grace Christian School today to volunteer. It was great! Sat in the younger grades' chapel and Jonathan Barret spoke. He did a slide show presentation of his trip and for every picture the younger kids (mostly those in kindergaten I assume) would ooh and aah. I wanted to laugh out loud a few times, but I was able to contain myself. They were just too funny.
Then I went down to the kindergarten for a bit and watched them practice for their graduation. They were super cute. I really enjoyed that.
Also supervised a grade seven study hall. I'm going to have to bring myself some stuff to do while I'm there next time. I just sat and watched the kids read or do homework. Whish that I had had study halls when I was in junior high. They would have been useful.
I can't wait to go again tomorrow!

To the top of the parking garage!

Do any of you realize how high parking garages really are. I felt so sick looking over the top of one yesterday. Not that I'm afraid of heights, but I guess I just let the idea of falling off get to me.

I ate at the Noodle House for the first time. There was nobody there and the waitress looked really happy to see some customers. The food wasn't that bad either, I was impressed. Although the pop was disgusting. Definetly fountain and not worth the $1.50 I paid for it.

Also watched Pride and Prejudice last night for the first time. That is such a great movie! Now I am going to have to read the book. Why was I not born in that time period either? Would that not be that nicest thing ever? Dancing all the time and wearing those beautiful dresses? And the romance! (All the guys who are reading this are probably thinking right now that . . .well I don't know what they would be thinking. . .but I don't think its, "Yes Sarah, I agree with you!". . .anyways. . .little tangent there) Anyways, I was very impressed with the film.

And tomorrow I get to go see Gillian who is home finally!

So I will end by commenting on the weather which is very nice today. I am so happy to see the sun which has been non existent for about a week.

10 down and 1 more to go

Well I finished the fall and winter semesters at school. Now I'm taking one more course in May. Then I will be finished with the University.
I have about 4 and a half months till I go to Briercrest. I am so excited about it. I've been on the piano everday and am constantly bursting into song. September can come fast enough.
Well I quit Zellers, so I really need a job for the summer. Hopefully something will come up or I'll need like 20 private swimming lessons.
Well. . .I have nothing else to add really. Except that the rain has finally stopped. It was pouring like crazy these past couple days. I didn't find it much fun driving home at midnight after dropping of Heidi on Sunday. Too much rain.
Speaking of Sunday, good times at the Brays. I don't think I've ever been that giddy in a long time. There were times that I could not stop laughing.
Alright. . .time to do some productive stuff. Like sort my sock drawer by color.

Tuesday, April 11, 2006

Its Official

I have been accepted to Briercrest! So thats where I'm headed at the end of the summer. I'm super excited and super nervous. I can't wait to see what God has for me there (and no comments from you Misty ;), you know what I'm talking about).
I'll be sad to leave PEI, but I think it has been long overdue.
Now all I have to figure out is what courses I'll be taking for my first semester. . .and how I am going to pay for it all . . .anyone wish to contribute to the Sarah charity?

Monday, April 10, 2006

Its final.

Well after some headache, I have decided to go to Briercrest. My application is all done and I only need to send a final transcript. I'm super excited now. I've even started practicing the piano again (as I have to pass a test to be able to do music program). Thanks to everyone that has been praying for me. I didn't realize how difficult choosing a school could be, but I believe this is where I'm supposed to be going.
Well. . .back to studying for tomorrows exam. . .well maybe back to studying for tomorrows exam. . .there are 4 sleep stages in a cycle plus the REM stage. . .

Prayer Request

So one day this past week, at about 9:00, after a long discussion with her mother, Sarah went on the internet to see what she could come up with in terms of another school. That's right folks, another school. It wasn't to long till she found . . .
. . . and then she stayed on the site till 1:00 the next morning. The next day, after discussion with parents of course, she started the application process.

So this is what I want you guys to pray for. I'm applying for a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a performance emphasis. (Music?! I'll be studying voice, which I actually used to study, believe it or not, about 2 years ago. It was super expensive though and my instructor [who actually encouraged me to persue music in university] moved away.) Pray that I'm making the right choice and that I will seek and do God's will in my life.

Its a nerve racking decision. If I get accepted, I'll be going across the country to Saskatchewan and I know that I'll be terribly homesick. I think that it is a good decision though. I'll be in a Christian environment and will be taking courses on the Bible, so hopefully I will grow spiritually. I'll also be independent of my family and I guess I will probably grow up a bit (or a lot) more. God only knows what the next four years might bring.

and Grandpa . . . if you happen to read this in the next few days. . .I want to know your thoughts on this.

Two weeks away from the classroom and possibly more?

The falculty rejected the final offer presented to them by the administration. So they are still on strike, the administration is probably feeling burned, and I still don't have school. I'm kinda getting annoyed now.

I will leave you today. . .or atleast untill I get my inspiration for another post . . .with this rhyme

I suppose, that when I touch my toes
My bum is higher then my nose

Get off the road!

So I was entering the university and almost ran over a professor on strike. Scared my half to death. What he was doing standing in the middle of the road. . .I have know idea.
And my trip to the university was completely pointless as no one showed up to the lab anyway. So I talked to Linda Smith who had an office nearby and then went shopping.
Oh and I missed 24 last night as I had to work. I was very disapointed because I've heard it was a great episode. I had Dad tape it, but for some reason that didn't turn out. If anyone does have it taped, I would love to borrow it from you.

So I will leave you with some of my favorite pictures from last friday night at the Chapel (pictures provided by Noel and Matt)

Misty hiding behind tree

Come out, comeout wherever you are! Cause I'd rather not come find you. (Don't know what the white mark is on my sholder)

We also took some time to sing. Reminded me of camp.
Hanging out with my homies.

1-one thousand, 2 one-thousand, 3- one thousand. . .

So guess what I did today.

I taught 7 eleven year olds how to babysit! Yay! It was actually kinda fun and now I'm a few dollars richer.

I taught it at the Superstore and when we got there this morning, there had been a power outage. So we had to wait for it to go back on before we were alowed in the store. Why they didn't have a generator for such a large store, I have no idea. You think that they would. I guess most of University Ave. was out too.

Anything else. . .well for the past four days. . .i guess five days if you count the weekend. .. I've had no school. The professors are on strike. I just looked on the website and there are still no meetings going on between the parties invovled, so next week doesn't look that promising either. Which is good for me, cause I still haven't started my papers and I don't have a summer job lined up yet. As long as I don't lose my semester, I'm fine.

College and Career Video

Alright guys. Heres C&C video number two. Music provided by Daniel Bedingfield, who's album Gotta Get Through This is what I happen to be listening to right now.

Also, there is a title that for some unknown reason is hard to see.(The thing at the bery begining that looks like a green bar placed randomly in the film.) It just says College and Career and the date for those of you who would like to know.

So yeah. . .enjoy.

Post for those who want to, but haven't seen my hair.

Since announcing the chopping off of a good few inches of my hair, I have recieved some requests for a picture.

This is the best I can do for now.

Last post of the night. I promise.

I was at the Agnew's tonight and was shown this. I thought I'd share it. Made me laugh anyway.

Baby Got Bible
Watch it now on StupidVideos!

Been fooling around with Windows Movie Maker.

I need to get some actual stuff on my camera so that I can make another video. Oh well. This is what I did today instead of my term papers.

Some storm we got.

Woke up this morning to find out that the schools had all been closed because of this huge storm that was supposed to happen. Well. . . .its actually kind a nice out. No sun, but a bit mild.

I took the bus yesterday for the first time! That was interesting. It was pretty quick ride too and a little bit scary. I was convinced at some moments that the bus driver was going to kill us all. He didn't of course, but at times I wondered.

Well, I need to study. I hoping for a 80 on my psych test to counter my 60s.

My head is about 12' of hair lighter

I did it. I donated my hair again. Last time I did was the start of my sixteenth summer. This time round (almost two years later) though, I didn't have hair down to my waist, therefore to get the right amount, my hair is drastically shorter. It used to be at my elbow and now its at my jaw and really light. I'm donating it to Locks of Love.
Locks of Love is an organization that makes prosthestics for children with long term hair loss.
This is there web site if anyone wishes to learn more.

The Post in which Sarah Trys to Waste More Time Before She Starts Her History Assingment

Procrastinater is my middle name (I decided this 5 minutes ago). When you look up the word procrastinate in the dictionary, you will see my face under the definition. Don't believe me? See for yourself. . .

pro·cras·ti·nate
v. pro·cras·ti·nat·ed, pro·cras·ti·nat·ing, pro·cras·ti·nates
v. intr.
To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.

v. tr.
To postpone or delay needlessly.

- Dictionary.com

See my picture? Right there under the defenition.

Well, anyways, today has been good. Only one class, so I was able to get a lot done. I did laundry, vaccumed, did dishes, etc. After class I visited Judy (Joseph and Noel's Mom) and had a good chat with her over some tea and s-biscuits (biscuits in the shape of an s).

Lets see. . .what else. . .um. . .alright. . .time to take initiative (another great word) and do some school work. Wish me luck.

Things are looking up!

Because of some rumours I had heard, i decided to drop of my resume at the Maritime Chritian Book Store. I went back today to speak with the manager (make sure she had got it and such) and it seemed promising. She said she would for sure get back to me. I think it would be great working there as it would be a Christian atmosphere. It would be nice if something comes out of it.

By the way. 24 was great on monday. . .that's all I'll say incase Matt C reads this and I ruin it for him.

Sunday, March 05, 2006

For those who like to know what goes on in the life of the bookworm (a.k.a Sarah), here is a synopsis of my weekend. On Friday I went to the Chapel's youth group. I very much enjoy going there actually. Its easy to get confortable with the same people all the time and never leave your own circle. I love the people at the Chapel Y.G. and hope that they don't mind having a Baptist in their midst.
On Saturday I cleaned, napped and then went out with three couples. It was fun and a good lesson on what its like to be single in a group with a lot of couples. I'm sure I'll have many other experiences of this nature in the future whenever other single people are away. What did we do? We went skating on a outdoor rink. The ice wasn't bumpy either (which it usually is when the rink is outdoors). I don't think I've fallen so much though. I had bruises from Y.G. the night before and last night added to my already colorful legs.
I got to sit up in the morning service for the first time in a while today! I liked that. I love gophers, but breaks are good too.

Well. . .that is all. . .

The bookworm is signing off. Over and out.

Thursday, March 02, 2006

So when somebody has B.O., the "O" usually stays with the "B". Once the "B" leaves, the "O" goes with it.

Ha ha Seinfeld. . .funny show. . .

So now that I'm finished with this random post. . .back to psychology homework.

Wednesday, March 01, 2006

Will you be using your HBC credit card today?

Guess what! I get to go back to work again. Boooooooo. . . . I was so enjoying not having to work at Zellers for the past month (because they had no work for me). Just don't like it there at all.
I dropped off my resume at a few places for something else, but I'm not looking too hard. I would like something different for this summer though. I'll guess I'll start looking more towards the end of next month. For now I'm alright with Smellers. . .for now.
I did get in contact with someone about the Confederation players (you know, the people that dress up as John A. MacDonald and company) and they asked for my resume. It would be awesome if something came out of that. I did it for an afternoon when I was in grade six (some promotional thingy, I'm not really sure what it was all about) and had a ball, except that I was too tiny for their dresses and we spent 45 minutes hemming a dress drastically so that I wouldn't trip.
So my job situation is something the readers of this blog can pray for me about.

Monday, February 27, 2006

If Plan A fails you go to Plan B, not Plan A recycled.

No idea which season that quotes from, but it works since it is atleast from 24.

24 was awesome tonight! Very impressed. Not only was the plot line advanced and Lin was gotten rid of (for now atleast), but God got his place on the show. I have only seen bits and pieces of the previous four seasons, so maybe this has happened before. I sill think it was really neat. They had the President and his adviser pray and then later on when crisis is solved, the President Logan says, "Thank God." I thought that was great.

Sunday, February 26, 2006

Almost 100. . .almost

I got a 98 in bowling last night at college and career. Go me! Maybe next time I'll break 100. That would be very exciting.
Also my intermediate minesweeper score is now the low low number of 56. Yes that's right, 56.
What else can I say. . .
I was at the library yesterday and decided to take a trip down memory lane and visit the young adult section. Then what should I see, but The Princess Diaries V: Princess in Pink in all its pink glory. . .complete with a tiara. So I decided that I had to take it out and read it. . .so I did. I'm reading it now. I remember thinking when the first books were out that they were so cool . . .why did I ever think a story of a girl obsessed with her chest size was cool?

Thursday, February 23, 2006

"It's a veritable vegetable paradise! "

Today I watched Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I loved it. I couldn't imagine how much time it took to put it all together. When I was little, I used to watch Frog and Toad. It was a t.v. show based on childrens books and the show was entirely clay-mation, just like Wallace and Gromit. They were good too.
I feel like I'm recovering from my break this week. I did nothing at all last week and yet I'm glad to be back into routine. I don't enjoy the work, but I like attending some of my classes, and only some of them. Psychology and History basically consist of my 'some'. Just because the lectures are actually interesting to sit through. I could do without the labs and papers that go with the classes though.
Alright then. I guess Its time to go pop some pocorn. I've been craving it all day. Some girls like there chocolate. . .I like my popcorn. Although if offered chocolate (especially if it includes caramel) I wouldn't turn it down.

Monday, February 20, 2006

Yay for Mondays.

24 and Skating tonight! Yay! These to things help me appreciate Mondays. It almost prolongs my weekend. Speaking of weekends, this past one was good. Went bowling on Saturday and did wonderfully horrible, but . . .I GOT A STRIKE. . .that was very exciting. Also watched Planes, Trains and Automobiles (I think thats the title, eithere that or Transfer Trucks, Taxis and Other Such Mobile Devices). I very much enjoyed the movie. I also need to watch the rest of Wallace and Gromit. . .what I saw I thought was very good.

Another quote.

Remember that book I quoted twice a week or two ago. Well I'm now reading the sequel, which I have found to be just as good.

Do all you can in this life. WHen you wonder what to do and you ask God to answer and he does, then you do it. [Sounds so simple- SB] Don't be some old woman and wish you'd crossed bridges or walked roads that looked scary at the time. Those are the ones with the best destinations. . . .Life passes quickly, and we spend our time on a lot of insignificant things. We let fear keep us from some of God's greatest plans.

Boycott Valentines Day

Whose with me? It should not be alowed. This celebration is discriminatory towards those who are single. Wear black and show your support for this worthy cause.

:)

Happy Valentines Day!

Knock knock. Who's there. Banana.

I think I am now officially sick of bananas. I have made three batches of banana muffins in the past week. Everytime I turn around there are more bananas to mash. I know the recipe of by heart.
Nothing else to report. Except that I have bet my beginner minesweeper score. It once was 8 seconds and now is 7. Wahoo.

Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellas

Nathan posted something about Bryan Adams and it made me think of Buddy (why? no clue). So I went looking for when these guys would show up here. This is what I found.

OCTOBER
Later in October the group tours the Maritime provinces.
All these dates will be posted by Mar. '06

Much later then last year, but what can you do. Hope they make it to the Island.

Two posts in less then an hour. I'm blogger crazy today.

Snow White Porrige

Ever had Cream of Wheat (or at camp, snow white porrige)? I've decided that it is the best hot cereal.
Anyways, on another note I saw Lost with Bev yesterday and was shocked. I can't wait to see what happens next. Hope its just as good.
I also made cheese cake last night! It had a raseberry topping and was Yummy! I'm liking this cooking and baking thing more and more. My favorite part is licking the bowl. Its my mom's birthday on valentines day and I'll be making the dinner and cake (at least part of the dinner, Dad kinda claimed making the spaghetti sauce). Can't wait. Should be good. Can't believe that it is almost valentines day. Last year I spent it in the snow, good memories there. This year I'll probably spend it making home made valentines for my youth groupers at church with my load of scrapbooking material . . . I need heart stamps or something. . .trip to Micheals is in order.

Tonight at 10 on CTV.

Lost is having a close raise with 24 to win the
spot of Sarah's favorite show. Who will win? Lost, 24, Lost, 24. . . .

I think I'm watching to much t.v.

Can't wait to see tonights show though. It should be good. Hopefully better then last week. That episode was just a little to strange and it made me sad too. Poor Charlie.

Thoughts of 24

Watched 24 last night. Its kinda disapointing. I have watched some of the previous seasons and they seemed a lot less predictable then this one and much more tense. Oh well. Its still good, just predictable. Of course I wasn't expecting the Russian girl to kill the white bearded man. I thought she would kill herself or eventually be killed. . .but still. . .the show has a sense of being predictable.

I think Philippians is my new favorite book of the Bible.
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Another good quote

We all pass through times of winter. But winter will pass. And as you heal, you find yourself stronger, richer, more alive than ever before.

Cherish each day. . .

Cherish each day as a blessing, no matter what God opens or closes in your life. People want to thank God for the good days, then accuse him for the bad. Everything in life is for a reason, to fulfill a purpose, even when it's beyond what are mortal eyes can see. But you need to live, to breathe, to love, even when it hurts and causes pain. but to have love for a moment is greater than never to have it at all. So don't forget to live, to breathe, to love.
~ Cindy MicCormick Martinusen
Winter Passing

Judy Bondt leant me a book yesterday, Winter Passing, and she had marked the above passage. I love it and I thought I'd share. Not something that you would normally read in a novel. Even if it is a Christian one.

High School. I knew you well.

My friend Rene and I went to Colonel Gray today (I had to pick up my brother) and we got to see some of our old teachers. That was fun. The school doesn't look too much different. Except that there is some strange step, seat, bench thing in the middle of one of the courtyards. It looks really out of place.
I can't wait for the yearbook to come in. I'm glad high school is over, but I had some good times there. (miss those lunch hours in the hallway *sniff*)

Narnia Movies

The new White Witch looks just as spooky as the old, but in a much better way. Funny though. I can see how they old BBC version influenced greatly a lot of the new.

The new children and the old.
Peter and Susan.

The old Aslan was not c.g. , but I don't remember him seeming too fake either. I believe he was a puppet.

Though I greatly enjoyed the new movie that just came out. I can't help but remenise about the BBC's version of "The Chronicles of Narnia" fromt he late 80's and early 90's.

My Favorite Place On Earth

So yesterday I was talking with a friend that I got to know at Camp Emanuel. It got me thinking of those wonderful summers spent there yelling at kids, blowing my wistle, and making lemon and honey tea.
Here's two pictures of the camp. one of the water slide and one of myself and another lifeguard (Nick) getting ready for another week of swimming lessons. (Actually I think that I'm supervising the preperation in this picture. Oh the joys of being head lifeguard)

Time for another post.

So I have discovered Lost. I watched the 23rd Psalm last week and since then I have read all the recaps for the first and second season. I believe I'm somewhat caught up. I can even tell you which character is which. . .I think.
School has become busy again. Especially french. I have so much to do in that course. I also completely emabarresd myself in literature. I forgot to finish the book we were reading and thus failed the first quiz. Of course there are only two people who know that I did this, but still.
I went shopping wiht my parents and little brother last night. I got some scrapbooking paper at Micheals and found myself wandering in the art supply ailes. The stuff is so expensive, but I was tempted to buy some pens anyway. I didn't though. Because Mother was getting impatiant.
I need a camera. I need some new pictures.

For some unknown reason my recent post is for the 8th. Even though it is the 10th. So its under the post for the 9th.

Great Expectations

In literature were starting with a Charles Dickens classic. The theme for this years is aged old. Many case studies, culture studies, ect have been devoted to the idea of coming of age. Not to mention the books and movies written and made with this theme in mind.

I hate analyzing everything.

Zipping right on by.

This has been one crazy fast week. There has been a major change in my life, school has started once again and it seems like its still Monday. But it isn't. Its friday.
I have no clue why the above is underlined or blue. Oh well. Thats okay.
Tomorrows saturday and I have to work. I remember thinking that I had a whole week before I had to go back. Now the week is ended. Why? Why? WHY?

Merry Christmas Everyone.

I haven't been to Grand Mannan for Christmas day for like 5 years. Its fun to be back. We put up the tree this morning. We'll be decorating tonight. Kinda strange decorating on Christmas Eve.
I'm using my aunt and uncles computer so I better get off.
Merry Christmas.

Smellers

I'll be so glad when work is over tonight (at 11:00 p.m.) Then I can finally have my Christmas break. I'm soo tired.
I get my marks from first semester tomorrow. I'm hoping for a 75% or above in at least 3 of my 5 courses. Its so nice to be done. I start school again on the 3rd of January. It should be an easier semester and everyone says that second semester is better anyway.
C&C banquet was on monday. That was fun. Then some of us went to see christmas lights in Rutico. There was one house that was covered in blue lights. Joseph and I thought it was horrible. Why do they even sell blue christmas lights?
Last night was Christmas before Christmas. Since my family and I are going to my grandmothers place for the actual day, we thought it might take up less space if we opened some gifts before. My significant other came over as well and we exchanged presents too. I got him wallet, with a wallet sized picture of us already inside it. He got me scrapbooking stuff, chocolats and a gingerbread christmas tree (kinda like a gingerbread house, but a christmas tree instead).
I also got earings and a necklace from Abe and I gave him a Randy Travis c.d. Amos got a portable clue game, Mom got the Christmas special of Road to Avonlea, and Dad got the 11th book of the Wheel of Time series. We also did the fourth day of our advent tradition thing (supposed to be on sundays, but that doesn't seem to work out anymore) and Joseph got to see a Baker Christmas tradition first hand.
4 hours and a half before another 8 hours of work. *sigh*

Journey through the brain.

Pons are involved in sleeping, dreaming and waking.
I have my psych exam in 23 minutes. I guess I really should be heading over to the classroom center.
Oh and I had my first coffee from Tims today. I still am a tea girl, but coffee isn't so bad.
I should go. 21 minutes left.
Light goes throught the cornea. . .

1 down and 4 more to go.

I'm finished of biology forever!!!!!! Its a wonderful feeling to be done of something you weren't very fond of.
I've also go another person crossed off my Christmas list. I got the book King of Dreams (or somthing to that affect, can't really remember) for him and plan to read it before I wrap it.
While I was standing in line an old man told me his life story. He lived in Charlottetown for 82 years and has gone to the same post office for almost the same amount of time aswell. He was funny.
I should head for bed now. I'm exhausted.

The study of organisms = -fun

So, I've been studying for my biology exam today. If I can get a 10% or higher on this exam, then my second midterm mark will be changed to that mark. I got a 26% on my second midterm. I don't mean to make exuses, but it was hard. I'm hoping for an 80%, but I'll be happy if I get a 60%.
I'm taking a break from the studying right at this moment and I don't really want to go back. A sibling of mine is playing a Lord of the Rings game that we could never get to work on our computer, but is working on the one our grandparents are letting us borrow. I want to play it now.

Annoyed

I tried uploading a picture and it didn't work. Probably because the kb size thing (whatever that is) was to big. How am I supposed to make my pics smaller.

Drawing a blank.

How do you draw a blank?
Anyways, I wanted to post today, but I have no clue what to post. Grrr. . .
Oh well. I should go make myself a scrambled egg. I'm hungry.

The middle of the week!

The middle of the week is here! Hurray! Only two more days of school before the weekend. Speaking of school. Its hard to believe that it is almost Christmas break. My last exam is on the 14th (I think). I can't wait. Then I have nothing that I need to do but work.
Speaking of work, I have another 8 hours to put in this Saturday. At least I'm done at 4 and won't be missing C&C. Speaking of C&C. . .Rene, what are you doing this saturday night. You should come out. You know you really want to.

Tuesday, November 22, 2005

95%! I am so smart. S-M-A-R-T

I got a 95% on my psychology lab! I was expecting a 85% because I didn't think that it was as good as the last one (90%). Obviously I was wrong. Psychology is my favorite course. Its interesting and I'm doing good.

Wasting time. . . how much fun.

I need to remember that this thing still exists.
Sooo. . .
Life is busy. Right now I'm balancing school, work at Zellers, teaching, Gophers (kids program at church), and my social life.
Right now I'm wasting time before Biology. I had to come in early and I had nothing to do. I also have to waste more time after Biology since I'm skipping Math (we're watching a movie) and the car is at the garage. Therefore I might be back to give highlights on the life of a protist.

20 more minutes. . .

Life goes on

Wow. Its been a long while since I've been here. I haven't updated in like a million years.

Whats new. . .hmmmm. . .

I've started University. Thats interesting. Somehow it doesn't feel all that different from highschool. Sure the classes are bigger, the course material more difficult, but. . .its still school.

Other then that. . .not much.

I spent my summer a a french University. That was different, but a great experience. Hopefully I'll be gettin free credits from that also. Which will be really nice because then I'll get my minor doen quicker.

Well. . .I guess thats it.

We're going Broadway!

The time has come to perform Suessical. After a day of tech and a dress rehearsal, the curtain will "go out" to reveal. . .*drum role*. . .a boy in a rugby shirt. "Now that is a very unusual hat. I wonder, what could be under a hat such as that? It could be a creature from. . ."

Rehearsals

So I have three rehearsals in a row for Seussical, where I'm doing nothing. Its a bit boring. The show should look great when its done though. I hope it sounds just as good. We're a little behind on the vocal side of things.

You now. Its hard to believe that school is almost over. I soon will graduate. Wow. . .actually its still kinda hasn't really hit me yet. I wonder if it will.

Saturday, April 02, 2005

Organized, yep thats me.

You know, I've realized that even though I might not seem like the most orgainzed person, I really am. Even my weeks are organized. I know exactly what I'm going to be doing everyday and it rarely changes, but when it does I am flexible and I can deal with it. So its now 2:40 on a Saturday and I should be doing . . . .

Been a long time

I haven't posted on this thing in a while. I guess I spend to much of my time on Youth on the Rock. (youthontherock.com, pretty cool site) Anyways, I'll try to post more. Since the last time I posted I have been accepted to the university of my choice in the fall and I'm going to french immersion school in the summer. Fun fun fun.

What to do? Once I finish homework its so boring. I've been visiting the same websites over and over and over. . .

Got my grad photos. They make me laugh.

A New Semester

Ah, new paper, new scribblers, new pencils, new teachers, new textbooks, etc. New semesters are so much fun. Of course they get old really fast.

Exams are driving me CRAZY

In the six years that I have had some sort of exam, I don't think that I have ever studied so hard. I've been going for 7 hours straight at a time without looking up from my books. I don't think this is healthy. Hopefully its paying off though. My first two exams, Math and English, went really well and I'm actually excited to see my results. I have two more tomorrow, French and Poly Sci. I'm less confident about those. Oh well. No one can stay I haven't studied.

Getting tired of snow.

As much a I love snow days, I've decided that we have had too many. The three storms that we've had so far combined have given my tiny Island over 100 centimeters in snow. I had to shoval the other day! Usualy my bothers and my dad just do it themselves, but it was too much for them.

fictionpress.com/ my penname is Singing Sarah. Go check out my stories and review. It would make me very happy.

A Good Book

Good books today are very hard to find. Most books written today seem to be all the same in content. It gets very annoying when you can predict the ending of novels like you can a movie. *Sigh* What is happening to the world of literature?

Sunday, January 16, 2005

Snow Storm Tomorrow

There's supposed to be a huge blizzard tomorrow! Which means no school! I'm so excited! *deep breath* I don't like shooting games. What is the point?

Monday, January 03, 2005

School Again

Why? Why? WHY? Why must I go back to school tomorrow? Why? I'm praying for a BIG freak snow storm. I'm not ready to go back. I don't want to write exams. At least Suessical starts in Feb. That will be fun rehearsing for. It will make second semester go by quicker! I still don't want to go back though.
